What Happened?

All Monongalia County schools will be closed on Friday, August 26, 2023, due to anticipated traffic congestion.

Why Are Schools Closed?

The decision to close schools was made due to the closure of I-79 in both directions near mile marker 148 in Marion County.

The West Virginia Division of Highways estimates that the interstate will be closed for an extended period of time.

What Does This Mean for Students and Parents?

All after-school activities, sports games, and other events scheduled for Friday have been canceled.

Students are expected to return to school on Monday, August 29, 2023.
